The biggest trends from New York Fashion Week fall 2015

New York Fashion Week has come to an end, but the amazing pieces of clothing featured on the runway will stay in Fashion lovers’ minds  over the next several weeks/months, for sure!  From the obvious Leather, Boots, Fur and Coats that anyone would wear to the pop of colors, embelishments and skin-showing pieces to bring more life to a  somewhat dull season, the 2015 NYFW had definitely a lot to showcase.  Here are 8  trends that resonated with me the most, because they appeared in a countless amount of shows thus cemented themselves in my mind as the top trends everyone will be incorporating next fall.

  1. Colors

Pink and Orange were  stand out colors in the runway during Mercedes Benz nyfw and I am very excited about that. These 2 colors actually complement and look particularly stunning against each other as well so pairing pieces for a color-blocked effect will be cool. However, If you’re not comfortable with bright colors, you can definitely tone them down by wearing grey, black or white to balance things out.

 2. Fur

The Fur trend is one that will stick around for a little while. From subtle touches of fur to fully coated jackets, the soft, hairy look was a major hit both on and off the runway.

   3.  Fringe

This classic trend of the 70’s was also a reccurent trend on the catwalk. I especially fell in love with Rebecca Minkoff’s fringed boots.  Just EPIC!

4. Feathers

A  fun but very bold  trend. I see someone like Rihanna making a killing with  feathers! I’m definitely curious and  excited to see how they  get incorporated into wardrobes this fall.

 5. Monochromatic

A lot of designers went for  all-red , all-blue, all-green etc looks  and I can’t blame them. Less is more and there’s a sort of elegance and class to dressing in just one color or at least hues of one color.

6. Long Coats

coats are usually a staple for the colder months but a lot of designer gave them a new twist by making
them even longer than the usual winter coats. So do not be afraid to wear that Floor length coat that you thought was too long for Fall.

 7. High low/Assymetrical Hemlines

Symmetry is no longer a must when it comes to the  cuts and silhouettes nowadays. And a lot of designers sealed this new trend into our minds. Just remember to pick the piece that best fits you though because  the not-so-clean cut hem being unconventional  can be quite tricky.

8. High Slits

Many designers also showed lots of legs on the runway and I am here for all of  it! Guess Angelina’s bold leg move is here to stay for a little longer.

Overall, There was a major 70’s vibe on the runway from most of the designers.  The Hippie, Bohemian chic trend was very present ( Turtlenecks, wide leg pants etc) and  tailored pieces had a lot of definition to the waist. I’m all in for this sophisticated, confident woman who is not afraid of clothes hugging her body and showing her shape. Love it!
